Our open events showcase
Hawke's Bay Congress is proud to present a diverse range of open events, each designed to offer unique challenges and memorable experiences. Whether you're a seasoned competitor or looking for high-level play, our events cater to those seeking top-tier competition and a friendly atmosphere.
Welcome Pairs
A relaxed one session Pairs event on Friday night to ease you into the weekend of competitive bridge. The format will depend on the number of Pairs that enter but will be 26/27 boards matchpoint scored.
Open Pairs
Compete for prestige in our Open Pairs event. This format tests partnership synergy and strategic depth across nine, 8 board matches, promising exhilarating competition for all participants. The boards are match point scored in a Swiss movement with separate N/S and E/W fields.
There are prizes for the top Restricted Pairs.
Open Teams
Gather your squad for the ultimate team showdown. Our Open Teams Challenge fosters camaraderie and tactical brilliance, as each member contributes to the collective success in this dynamic format.
Six, 10 board matches of qualifying with the top 6 teams competing in the Teams Final.
There are prizes for the top Restricted Teams.
Open Swiss Pairs
The final Open event for the weekend is a chance for those who don't make the Teams final to battle it out in an eight board, 6 match Swiss event, IMP scored.
Entry is also open to players who have not competed in the Teams qualifying.
There are prizes for top Restricted Pairs.
